10 web innovations that improved our lives

Mashable posted their thoughts on ten internet innovations that have become staples in our daily routine for many of us. Not surprisingly web browsers top the list. But where does peer-to-peer sharing fall on the list? What about RSS feeds?

What surprised me was the seemingly blatant omission of instant messaging technology. I suppose it could fall under the category of Real Time Stream but I tend to view Twitter and Facebook in a different light than something like AOL Instant Messenger, Google Chat or Yahoo Messenger etc.

What do you think? Should instant messaging technology have made this list or not?
