2009 NL East Champions from Kevin McGuire on Vimeo.

Last night the Philadelphia Phillies, defending World Series champions by the way, clinched their third consecutive NL East title, thus guaranteeing a spot in the playoffs that start next Wednesday. They knocked off the Houston Astros, although they technically were already crowned the champion with one out to go in Philadelphia as the Braves lost their game to the Marlins.

After the game the celebration was a bit subdued, which should be expected from a team that has been down this road twice before, reaching the ultimate goal last fall. It appeared that the team had much more of a business like approach to getting this division clinched.

After the on-field and locker room celebrations the team came out and walked to left field to the Harry Kalas memorial sign and made sure that everybody knew that while Kalas may not still be with us in person, he is still in our hearts.

Congratulations Phillies. Win it for Harry.
