With the long awaited return of Lost, for its final season on television, many people are scrambling to finish up the season five DVD or Blu-Ray before the season premiere. However, if you do not have time to watch the previous season, or the entire series, here is a handy video to get you all caught up on what has made Lost such a great program.
Two rather important releases today according to my wife. Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince is the big movie release today. For you TV fans you surely have heard of Lost. Well, season four of Lost is now out on video as well.
Here are my thoughts on each release, just in case there is any question in your mind as to whether or not you should be picking these up for you or a family member or friend this holiday season.
I highly recommend Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (Two-Disc Limited Special Edition + Digital Copy)because for about $20 how can you pass down a bonus disc and a digital copy? The digital copy can be downloaded through iTunes or Windows Media player depending on your system or preference. I have digital copies of two movies myself (the Dark Knight and Wall-E) and this allows me to take the great films with me via laptop or iPod if I so desire. It is much better than lugging around an extra DVD or two.
Naturally the movie is also available in Blu-Ray format but I have yet to make that leap yet. If you are on the leading edge of movie entertainment though then you should know that the Blue-Ray version comes packed with a DVD in addition to the Blu-Ray version. You also get a digital copy and access to BD-Live.
Here are a couple highlights from my review of the movie form over the summer [link];
In some ways this movie reminded me of the Star Wars saga. Luke Skywalker goes about his ways to uncover the past of his father, Darth Vader, while the prequel episodes detail the path to Anakin Skywalker's demise to the Sith and turning into Darth Vader.
The ending also reminds me of Empire Strikes Back, in the way that the story ends on somewhat of a down note, but leads the story to the conclusion.
One comment had this to say - "It's not the content of the book that's bad.. it's what they chose to focus on"
Still, for a Harry Potter fan, this is obviously a must-own. Looking back on the movie now, what do you think about it? Like it? Dislike it?

Then of course is season five of Lost. I can not wait for the sixth and final season to get underway. Each year my wife and I try to watch Lost from the beginning and lead up to where the upcoming season starts. With five seasons under the belt we may just have to settle for watching the fifth season instead of the entire series.
No problem for me!
Season five was one of my favorite seasons, although I consider them all above average, with some either great or teetering on the greatness scale. Truth is you can not go wrong with any of them.
So what happened in season five?
Season five dives more into the mysterious Jacob, starts to put pieces together from the past and the future, and by way of time travel that only Doc Brown could explain. Sawyer, one of the great television characters of all time, develops into a leader and seems to have settled down with his fate, but a return to his life by the female hero "Super Kate" divides Sawyer's heart between his fellow Oceanic passenger and Juliet. Yes, I am sure I left out a lot of content, but more than likely you are either caught up to speed or will dedicate yourself to watching it from the beginning someday, in which case none of this made sense anyway!
Oh yeah, John Locke comes back to life somehow. Hey, it's Lost. You're never dead until you become a pointless character with all of your issues resolved.
If you are planning on buying yourself a present or someone else who likes the show, Lost: The Complete Fifth Seasonon DVD is a good start. You get 731 minutes of content on five discs, which should tide you over until season six premieres. But if you are looking for a Blu-Ray version, no need to worry as Lost: The Complete Fifth Seasonis also available on Blu-Ray.

I don't know about you but this week's episode of Lost was one of my favorites. I love how you can see the pieces coming together closer and closer with every episode so far this season.
I am a big fan of Desmond's character so this week was no disappointment to me. I enjoyed every minute of this episode so much I did not even notice that we never saw any of the Oceanic Six off the island, or Ben. Stef pointed that out to me as the episode ended.

I thought the two hours of Lost was awesome. There is clearly a different take on the space-time continuum than is seen in the Back to the Future trilogy and may actually be closer to that seen in the Harry Potter series.What did you think?
Lost returns to tv tonight with the premiere of the fifth season. Awesome. What's going to happen this time around? I know I am and it should be no surprise to learn that Stef is beaming with excitement for the return of Lost. While it is still two weeks away it is still something to look forward to. To kill the time in the next fourteen days I recommend you get refreshed on what happened in season four. Stef and I are watching the DVDs for the season now. Honestly it might be my favorite season so far. Desmond's episode where he is not flashing back but rather he is traveling through time in The Constant.
Not to be lost (pun semi-intended) in my enthusiasm for the return of Lost is the fact that my favorite show on tv, 24, returns this weekend! Season six of the show left a lot to be desired and suffered more than any other season to combine multiple plot lines. To have Wayne Palmer be cast as President seemed odd to me and the character suffered from never being able to compare to past presidents on the show. With the extra time off as a lingering effect of the writer's strike last year I am confident that 24 will be able to reestablish itself as a high quality show.
The previews of the upcoming seventh season tell us that Jack Bauer learns that his old friend, whom he though had died in his arms, Tony Almeida is in fact alive and apparently up to no good shenanigans. Seeing as the government forces never seem to be able to catch the bad guy in 24 land they turn to Bauer to bring him in. Many people believe that Tony being alive is proof that last season was poorly written, but I for one never believed he was dead. I still have to go back to the DVD and examine the scenes in detail, but I was never convinced Tony was killed off. There was no silent clock leading to a commercial, which is a trademark move when a key character is killed, and the transition was too rushed for a character that was one of the few remaining original characters from the first season. There was no way Tony would be disrespected like that. Maybe that is why he appears to be evil this season?
I'll give my 24 predictions later on but I imagine that at some point Jack will find out that Tony has his hands tied and that eventually Tony will do something for Jack that will help his investigation. Just a hunch. Although I do love the fact that Tony is evil. I always thought there was something sinister about him that was waiting to be unleashed.
...since I could take a few minutes and just browse Amazon and add to my wish list. So I did just that, adding some new Wii games and DVD's to the mix.
I'll be set on Wii for a while now with Super Smash Brothers Brawl and Zelda Phantom Menace (I mean Phantom Hourglass) finding some playing time in my spare time.

As for tonight the commercials continue to say we'll see somebody we never expected to see again. Well if it isn't Michael, and maybe to a lesser extend Walt, than I would be surprised. The credits have been showing Harold Perrineau's name the whole season and info has already leaked out that Michael comes back this season. Part of me is hoping that it isn't him, likely on the boat, but all signs point to it being him. At this point it wouldn't be a surprise really and I'll feel let down if it is.

It is here, the season premier of Lost. Tonight starts the fourth season of the show. I know some of you readers enjoy Lost, so here is your chance to discuss it together in my first ever Lost: Open Thread.
So what exactly is an open thread? An open thread is a simple post with little content (usually) and visitors leave their comments and communicate back and forth through the commenting system. Think of a message board, but without the message board I guess.

Well, I actually can not honestly back that statement, but that's the feeling I get when it comes to Lost. Stef may be more into the whole phenomena than I am, as is my sister, but I strongly encourage people to get in on this show. The season premiere is Thursday night. Wednesday night the complete two hour season finale from season three (last season) will be broadcast as well. If you have not watched Lost before and want to start doing it, then the best thing for you to do is sit down, and watch the DVD's from seasons one, two, and three (Blu-Ray!) in order.
If for some reason you don't have a flux capicitor (I only have a Mr. Fusion right now...) and are running out of time to do that before Thursday night, then pay attention to this video. It will bring you up to speed on all of the important details. Feel free to leave any questions you have. I will try to respond to them.
